T-Rex, by Cobrin
Ankylosaurus, by Margot

Stegosaurus, by Brendan

Hi Moms, Dads and Special Grown-ups,

This week we explored our favorite "D" word, DINOSAURS!
We loved our Blue Dogs, but Dinos are so exciting. We sent home four pages of songs and we have had oodles of fun stomping, growling, eating and going down to the river for drinks of water during circle time. The children chose one of four kinds of Dinosaurs to paint. We made Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus-Rex, Ankylosaurus, and Triceratops. We learned that our friend Dante's name starts with letter "D."

Our Dinosaur reading list included:

1. Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs by Byron Barton.
2. Dinosaur on Shabbat, by Diane Levin Rauchwerger and illustrated by Jason Wolff.
3. When Dinosaurs Came With Everything, by Elise Broach and illustrated by David Small.

We had great fun changing our names to Dinosaur names...like Brendanosaurus, Gemmasaurus, Ms. Terrasaurus, etc.!

We also talked about Volcanoes this week. Every day during movement time, we rumble our feet like big volcanoes, fill our bellies up with steam and blow out our lava. Sometimes we rumble so loudly that Miss Gloria can hear us! For our volcano project, we colored and painted some crinkly, rocky volcano paper and topped it off with lava paint that was mixed with sand, glue and red glitter. The Dinos are busy hanging around the volcanoes on our classroom walls in our Pre-Historic mural! They'll be coming home soon.

This week we'll start talking about letter "E." We are planning to fill the room with Elmo portraits!

Have a beautiful weekend, Shabbat Shalom.
Ms. Terri and Ms. Julia
